I'm using the National Bureau of Economic Research.
I know that it's valid because it's supporting other evidence I've learned. It's reliable because it's a government source and is reviewed by people. I don't know for a fact that it's accurate, but it's backed up by many sources and statistics.

Research Step 1

So far, I have thought about what I was going to do for my honors challenge paragraph. I was going to do something on power and money, but I really want to do something on serial killers. In history, we haven't done anything on the project yet, but next class I think we will. I don't have a thesis statement or any other preparation because I just changed my topic.

Research

When I hear research, I usually dread it. I know that I'll probably end up doing it all in a day or two rather than utilizing the week or two given. I like being able to research my own topic as opposed to something chosen by someone else.
What are the steps in the research process? The steps are to find research places and take notes on the information. Then you put it into your paper or project. In the past, I did a research paper on epigenetics and their effects on cancer. I did it last year and it was really interesting. The negative was that I chose a pretty difficult topic to write about, and the positive was that it was really interesting and I worked on it in class, rather than feeling distracted in class. I would like to do a project on a poster, or a paper. I don't like to do podcasts or technological things because I'm always afraid they won't save or I won't do it right.

Thesis

If I have my license, I can become more involved in clubs because I can drive myself to them. It also serves as a way to punish me, if I'm bad you can just take my license away. You also wouldn't have to drive me everywhere so you would have more free time. I should get my license because it would make all of our lives easier and more well-rounded.

New Model

The thing that stands out to me about these two detention centers are that Rosa Parks and Waverly both try to get the bottom of the kids issues. Other detention centers just keep the kids locked up and guarded. In the girls facility, they feel like they're in a family, and the boys hear about each other's problems and feelings during check-in. The staff is helping and tries to be relatable.

Healing and Change

"People change in two ways-with slow persistent pressure, or with a single and sudden traumatic experience. That's why people often change so much when they have a near-death experience. I believe something significant happened to Cole on the island". Edwin

The ways healing and change take place are either very abrupt after a traumatizing event, or slowly through persistent pressure. It's not always equal. For some people, it's easier to change and adjust to situations. For others, it's very difficult and confusing. The way someone heals or changes reflects their culture because sometimes a person changes through soaking or ancestor rocks, which is a native american way of change, while others go to a therapist to change, which is a western culture way.

Totems

Out of all the animals on the website, I'm most like the bee. The bee is described as organized, productive, wise, community, celebration, fertility, defensiveness, and enjoys life. I'm very organized, and sometimes wise. Community, friends, family, and celebrating are very important to me. I'm very defensive of my friends and myself, and I certainly enjoy life a lot. The bee has taught me to always to keep those close to me in my heart, and to stay organized and gain wisdom.
